Tiffany Diaz, VP for Non-DOE Members

Tiffany Diaz’s journey for change started years ago, while working as a bookkeeper.
Shortly after she noticed that she had a different passion within herself that pushed her to want to do more and make a difference that can touch many. In her early 20s and full of  excitement, Tiffany had the opportunity to work as a Crisis Paraprofessional. This opportunity was the beginning of her journey in the Educational Field and the path towards using her new-found  passion to make a difference. The time spent as a Crisis Paraprofessional made Tiffany realize that there is more that needs to be done on a deeper level to assist the children and families we come across.

After a few years being  a Paraprofessional, Tiffany obtained her Associate’s degree in Business Administration and Bachelor’s in Behavioral Science. She then realized that she was ready to take the first step in her journey and  My First Steps Group Family Daycare was founded. Now 8 years strong as owner and operator of My First Steps, Tiffany has had the opportunity to withstand the gains, loses and experiences of a Business Owner. Tiffany values building strong lasting relationships with children, families, fellow educators; but most of all, she has built a relationship with the people within her community.

In effort to continue building and finding resources for those in my field, Tiffany was introduced to ECE on the Move and shortly after became a member of this organization that not only educates providers at large but strives to make a difference in the Childcare Industry. With the support of ECE on the Move, Tiffany was graciously nominated and obtained a position in the UFT Childcare Provider Executive Board as the Borough Chair for The Bronx.

Aside from her humble accomplishments there is a lot more Tiffany would like to accomplish within herself and most of all this industry. Tiffany is very conscious that there is a lot more work to be done and is eager to accept the challenge.
